RETHINKING 2MW

Soon.
Em breve.

Tim Festival 2008 – part 2 [updated]

The marketing area of the event had translated the term new rave to Portuguese and it sounds awful and poor. Fail!

Late of the Pier

The dancing hardcore electronic band of the day is Late of the Pier. Uk also, course. New rave also, course. The guys are young and full of energy. Get ready Brazilians… they say they’re coming in August. Let’s wait and see.

Metronomy

I’m in a dance-punk electro post-punk vibe. So, continuing the (not so) new club vibe called (why?) new rave, let me introduce you Metronomy, my new fave band. Their single ‘My Heart Rate Rapid’, from their new EP with the same name is my cell phone ringtone.

David Bowie, Devo, Frank Zappa, Pavement, Kraftwerk, New Order, N.E.R.D, Solex and The Ramones are their influences. They’re from UK, they’re becoming famous, opening for Bloc Party, CSS and Kate Nash (really?). Oh, and they have been remixing some good songs around. We also have posted the Britney’s Toxic version, the best imho.

Does it Offend You, Yeah?

Eletronic met rock. So we have this (not so) new club sound trend: New Rave. Post-Punk. Disco-Punk. A big mix of energetic guitars, bass, drums and computer. Hardcore Eletronic + Computer Disco. The genre I found after giving up to find a good punk-rock band. Or if you’re looking for a good soundtrack for jogging.

[Note: I love the band's name.]
