Mr. Gnome’s press release says something like “when Cat Power meets Death From Above 1979″. I was surprised with this statement and clicked in their YouTube video (this one posted here) of Night of the Crickets and… wow! Nicolle Barille voice is sweet, the melody is sometimes post-punk or prog, very peculiar. The video is great. It’s all weird enough to be here and more than enough to be in my playlist.

And I definitely need more time to write here.

El Perro del Mar is the solo project of Swedish girl Sarah Assbring. Not only she’s pretty, her voice is wonderful!

Now she is releasing a new single called Glory to the World – in the video below – but we are offering here for download. Glory is part of her 2nd full-length album ‘From the Valley to the Stars’, available in Scandinavia, UK, US, Australia and New Zealand so far. But you can listen @ MySpace.

Her debut album “Anywhere I lay my head” is a tribute to the amazing Tom Waits. Produced by David Sitek (TV on the Radio), the actress sings with David Bowie in two songs, “Falling Down” and “Fannin Street”. The only original track is “Song for Jo”, composed by Scarlett and Sitek. It’s not an easy album to hear and like, it`s one of them we can include in the “chic is to be smart” category. But the coolest and hotest actress in America deserves our respect.
