Final Fantasy

Owen Pallett is Arcade Fire’s violinist. Really talented and cool. He has this beautiful project called Final Fantasy which we came across while researching about queer indie stars. Yes, he is gay and wants the world to know it. He and his good friend Ed Droste, Grizzly Bear’s front man.

Owen covers Mariah Carey. I love this video.

Final Fantasy is releasing 2 EP’s: Plays to Please and Spectrum, 14th Century – both with surprisingly good partners as Beirut and Andrew Bird.

Spectrum, 14th Century EP:
*mp3 – Oh, Spectrum
*mp3 – The Butcher

Plays to Please EP:
*mp3 – Horsetail Feathers
*mp3 – Ultimatum

Hail to the post-rock!

The Clientele

I’ve spent the last 2 weeks listening to lots of new (for me) stuff and I found myself… late.

One of the new-for-me stuff is The Clientele. It’s so good and so no-crap rock poetry:

* mp3 – Losing Haringey {from Strange Geometry, 2005}
* mp3 – Haunted Melody {from The Violet Hour, 2003}

And I was wondering how to make a post about them. For my surprise, this morning I read they released a new EP [I know you don't like EP's but this one is worth a listen so far].

Architecture in Helsinki

In an interview to the brazilian site Coquetel Molotov, Cameron Bird, the main composer of the band spoke about his influences: “It’s funny, but my main musical influence is Tropicalia. Tom Zé, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Mutantes. This is a genuine creative pop music made in an important time to Brazil and to the whole world. I really like to visit your country (Brazil)…” So, after the new album Places Like This, we hope the band came to Brazil soon.

* mp3 – One Heavy February 2008
* mp3 – Like It Or Not (El Guincho Remix)
