N.A.S.A. (North America South America) is an international collective of musicians spanning a wide spectrum of musical genres, centered around Squeak E. Clean (Sam Spiegel) and DJ Zegon (Ze Gonzales). At first they sampled rare Brazilian records from the 60’s and 70’s to make tracks. However, what started as two crate diggers making music for the fun of it soon developed into something much bigger. Having forged a strong friendship through their passion for music, Sam and Ze decided to make a record with all of their heroes and favorite musicians. The idea was to bring people from different worlds together through their shared inspiration and love of music. Thus, N.A.S.A. was born, with crazy collaborations like Ol’ Dirty Bastard (Wu-Tang Clan), Karen O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), and Fatlip (Pharcyde) on one track, David Byrne (Talking Heads), Chali 2na (Jurassic 5), and Gift of Gab (Blackalicious) on another, and even a pairing of Tom Waits with Kool Keith. The idea is to ignore all of the boundaries and borders that are in place to keep people divided, such as musical genre, race, politics, geography, language, etc. As a result, they gathered the craziest and most eclectic collection of musicians ever assembled on one album in the hope that they can show, through music, that all those superficial divisions are an illusion.

It’s been a long time since i wrote the last time in this blog. Don’t worry boys and girls, we’re still alive and ready to promote good music, bands and projects. Nati, the other weirdo, is always charging me to make a new playlist. And that’s what I’ll do here. Try to relax and enjoy the music.
1. The Rapture – Whooo… alright, yeah.. uh huh
One of my favourite songs of this enthusiastic band. I saw them last year in Planeta Terra Festival in São Paulo and they are pretty impressive. This year they’re promissing to us Bloc Party, The Raconteurs and The Breeders. You`ll know more about the concerts soon.
This amazing new band already have a sad moment in their history: after they launch his first EP, the drummer, John Ryan Pike died in an accident. Despite this tragedy, the band is making a huge success in american indie scene.
3. Belle & Sebastian – Piazza-New York-Catcher
One of my favourite bands for one simply reason: sweet melodies and strong lyrics. This music belongs to the Juno OST, one of the most impressive soundtracks in the last years.
4. Calvin Harris – Acceptable in the 80’s
A fun song, with 5 sentences and a danceable rythim.
5. Anthony and the Johnson’s – I fell in love with a dead boy
One of the saddest and most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard.
6. Mark Ronson fet. Santogold – Pretty Green
Two of the hottest today’s artists together in one of my favourite songs.
7. The Go! Team – Universal Speech
That’s to you Nati! Let’s shake and dance!
8. Stray Cats – You can’t hurry love
The Supremes classic, recorded by this classic rockabilly band.
9. Nakahara Meiko -Ru-ru-ru-russian Roulette
A japanese diva from the 80’s. J-pop has this space here in our blog. This music was the opening theme from the TV animated series Dirty Pair.
10. Kenna – Say Goodbye to Love
Yes, we like hip hop. But not the mainstream hip hop. This Ethiopian-born american musician discover his interest in musci listening to the U2 classic album “The Joshua Tree”. Synth pop, eletronic, hip hop, post rock and house defines this multi-genre artist who was included discussed in the Malcolm Gladwel’s book Blink.
